Beauty 101: Sleeping Beauty

We all want perfect skin and we all know that it sometimes can take a village to get perfect skin. I’ve tried numerous products throughout my life to do so many things to make my skin perfect. I have tons of different face washes: shower ones, ones with scrubbies attached, cleansing pads … then there is the question of moisturizers and so on. It can become a big mess if you don’t know what you are looking for.

So then I found The Daily Glow blog that gives you step-by-step advice on how to take care of your skin … today’s tip: how to get glowing skin WHILE YOU SLEEP.

“When asleep, your metabolic rate is lower, so you’re not producing as many skin-damaging free radicals. Plus, you’re not exposed to environmental pollutants or UV light that can harm the skin,” explains Mary Lupo, M.D., a New Orleans–based dermatologist to The Daily Glow. “Because your body doesn’t have to work at skin protection overnight, it can instead focus on repairing the damage done throughout the day,” she says.

* * Any product you use at night will be THAT MUCH MORE effective due to this – so if you want softer skin, put your moisturizer on at night and wake up to baby-smooth skin.

** Wash your face at night so your pores won’t get clogged with dirt, debris and oil. The Daily Glow suggests using a gently daily cleanser to do so – that when when you put on your special product at night it’ll actually work.

** Do your face scrubs and peels at night! These kinds of products make your skin vulnerable to sun damage and other elements – so doing it at night reduces your risk.

** Get fresh lips by exfoliating them at night with a mixture of water and baking powder – gently scrub the lips with it. Then apply a rich emollient, The Daily Glow suggests Aquaphor Lip Repair to help sooth and smooth your lips while you rest.
