OOTW: Drum Bar Chic

This has nothing to do with the impending holiday (tomorrow is THANKSGIVING), and I know this is late but I had to share this picture of myself (and use as a teaching tool).

This past weekend I celebrated my coworker’s 21st birthday by going to the casino for the first time (even though I’ll be 24 soon) and we had a lot of fun getting dressed up. I finally had an opportunity to wear this dress I got my senior year of college that I haven’t worn yet. I adore this dress.

Baby Phat is an awesome brand that carries great plus size clothes, since I’ve boughten this dress they have joined up to sell exclusively at Macy’s but they are still producing great plus size attire. This particular dress brings in color and pattern – two elements of style that ANY woman should try. It helps me out because I’m not a big pattern fan, especially floral, because it’s normally too girly for me. Also the pattern is proportional to my size so I don’t look like I’m swimming in tiny flowers – this is key to wearing prints!

Dress: Baby Phat; Boots: Payless; Necklace: My Lady Boutique.

I paired it with some OTK (over-the-knee) black boots for a chic yet casual look. I have issues wearing heels for long periods of time (they kill my feet due to high insoles) so I opted for flat boots. This way I was able to be comfortable, fashionable and move & groove with ease.

I will point out my biggest faux pas in this picture, and I didn’t know it was there at the time of the picture. If you can’t tell, my one bra strap is showing. Sometimes it is difficult with some dresses to hide my bra straps; at this event I had attempted to tie the hanger ties around my straps so they wouldn’t slide down my shoulders and show the straps… apparently it didn’t work the whole time. I don’t exactly approve this method of hiding the bra straps but it was the first thing I thought of, haha.
